Have faith in God (TLT Worship Help)
Father God, we worship You, the God of true wisdom.
We don't worship the Sophia in Proverbs as "goddess of wisdom"!
Jesus, the Logos is the only true source of wisdom!
We look upon You, as the true wisdom.
Unlike many strange institutes and organizations, we don't worship vague and obscure divinities as God.
Our God, Yaweh the Father, Jesus the Son, and Holy Spirit, is the only true God!
Likewise, Lord, your word is the only absolute truth.
No matter how hard they press and stress theirs is "truth", we don't mind.
We adore and love You as our Truth...because You said You are the way, the truth and the Life!
Lord Jesus, You are the Truth and the Word!
Let us believe so.
"But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does." (James 1:6-8, NIV)
Though various polls have shown that the majority of American people believe they are Christian, we shouldn't regard they mean it. How many of them do you think are born again? How in the world can you become a Christian without being born-again?
You can see so many different attitude toward Christianity and the Bible.
In these days, they behave and look like they are Christians, but majority of them just pretend and declare so. Unless you are a real born-again believer, you can't say you are Christian. Is that clear?
One thing postmodernism has brought is so many "make-believe" believers or "imaginary" Christians. But thery are just pretenders. One of the reasons why it is so is they know the majority of the U.S. mass are Christians. No wonder there are these political Christian candidates for the upcoming presidential election. They say they "believe" this and that but you can figure out that their hearts aren't really so.
You can't copy a Christian! You can't make a ditto out of it.
You can't say you are a Christian unless you have this life of Christ. It's the Truth and the Spirit! The Word should dwell within you. Otherwise, you are just a clown of Christianism, and the devil in these days looking for a lot of them to work for him for his religious puppet show. Even Satan wants to be like Christian!
So you must make sure you aren't kidding. You have to be serious.
You see, there are lots of self-claimed believers. There are thousands of them all over. Actually they are fooled by themselves, playing around as "Christians".
The thing that makes you a true believer is belief: to have faith. To remain in a believing system or staying in a believing society is not belief. Belief is belief: you must be a man of faith. You can't be a man of doubt as well as man of belief at the same time! If you doubt, you are a doubter.
That's why Jesus said to have "Have faith in God". This simple-sounding sentence is not that simple. What He really meant here is to have a God-kind faith. What is God-kind faith? It's that you believe what you have said to be done as you said. Do you understand this?
God is God of His Word. He believed what He said was to be done exactly as he said. He created the whole universe through His word. And this word was Jesus, the Logos. And God's spirit and power is the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, if we believe God's word faithfully, it would work every time. It should.
It'll perform through His word and His Spirit.
Let's say...when Jesus was walking on the water of Galilee, Peter saw it and he also wanted to do so. So Jesus said to come to Him. Well, it is faith. It's God-kind faith when you act on His word. Jesus promised even a bit of faith tiny as a mustard seed, would work. It should.
Peter began to act on the word of God that whatever you do in faith, it will be done. Do you think to walk on water is pure assumption or vain desire? Well, then, what about Peter? He didn't mean to become a god or fantastic magic-performer.
He just wanted to believe and act! He wanted to be like Jesus.
That's how you get and use this God-kind of faith: you believe the word you uttered in faith and act upon it! That's an absolute, 100 percent belief with no reservance or space for doubt. Even a tiny bit of faith is so. A mustard seed is a mustard seed though it's tiny. You can't call a seed of weed a "mustard seed"!
Likewise, a tiny bit of faith is faith indeed, so it works as it is.
Well, what did happen to Peter, then?
Peter took a daring and dashing step on the surface of waving dark deep water in faith alone and began to walk and go toward his Master. He was brave, wasn't he?
You've got to be bold on what you believe. You have to make sure it's not belief on your own braveness. It's a boldness on God's word. Since God promised he would perform it when you act on the word, surely He will.
Well, it would work only as long as you believe. When Peter looked down and saw this wave on the water, all of sudden he got this fear and doubt and he began to sink. That's exactly when the devil engaged in the scene. Satan knew this doubt would work. The archfiend is our enemy no less than doubt is foe of faith.
"Lord, save me!", he shouted submerging and gulfing the water, when Jesus hurried to rescue him. And asked He: "Man of little faith, why did you doubt?"
Jesus didn't say "You stupid man! Why is your faith so little?", because even with tiny faith as little as a mustard seed, you can throw a mountian into the sea!
He said "Why did you doubt?"
No matter how tiny is the faith you have, it must be 100% pure.
A mustard seed must be a mustard seed...no less or more thatn that.
That's why Jesus loved little children. A child only thinks on simple things and believe easily. That's why they are innocent most of the time.
You have to believe just like a child believes in his/her parents.
They trust in what you say after you got their basic interest and trust.
A father asked his young son to climb over the roof of the old thatched cottage to pick a gourd. Korean gourds are very big and some of them huge that they almost look like the moon on the mountain! That's why some of thatch sank down.
This boy climbed the ladder in quick steps and picked one. When he looked for the ladder to climb down back, it's nowhere.
Instead, his father opened his arms wide with a big smile saying: "Throw it and then leap down, son! I'll get you." Of course the boy came to know by this time that the father put the ladder away to hide it. The boy, after little hesitation, did it!
He managed to leap down boldly and dived into his father's wide bosom. He believed that the father was a good, strong catcher enough to catch and hold him.
This's it. Faith is just like that. Your Father God has enough might and power to receive you when you leaped into his bosom boldly in faith.
That's just like how the child believed and trusted his father.
So you can say that belief has these two aspects: God-kind and child-kind.
There is another illustration for this, a famous one
When a whole district had a long dry summer, a little church in the town went up to a mountain to pray like Elijah did. As they walked along, they found a young girl bringing an umbrella. They all laughed saying: "Why are you bringing that in this weather?"
Isn't this our situation now?
James said: That (doubting) man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does."
Let all TLT readers have God-kind and kid-kind faith!
